The Yost typewriter brand, founded by George Washington Newton Yost, has a rich history in the development of typewriting. Yost, instrumental in convincing Remington to produce the Sholes & Glidden, the first commercially successful typewriter, later established the Yost Writing Machine Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1887.
