Optima Typewriters

Optima is a notable brand in the history of typewriters, originating from East Germany. Known for their sturdy construction and reliable performance, Optima typewriters were produced by the Optima Büromaschinenwerk, located in Erfurt. They emerged in the mid-20th century, during a time when typewriter manufacturing was expanding globally.

Optima typewriters were well-regarded for their quality and were popular within the Eastern Bloc. They were designed to be durable and functional, suited for both office and personal use. Models like the Optima Elite and Optima Electric were particularly well-known.

1956 Optima Elite Typewriter With Case
Seller's notes: "1956 Optima Elite Typewriter With Case. Condition is "Used.” All keys are in working order apart from the tab. The ribbon has dried out though I have managed to type some colour with the red part. The photos show the very little wear it has. Everything is original as it belonged to my father who bought it new in Portsmouth in 1956. It travelled the world with him as he used it in his work as Purser on Esso oil tankers until 1970."
