Seller's notes: "For sale is our rare Underwood typewriter with case stand and fascinating provenance linking the item to a named US Army officer and his accommodation in 1940s Japan. Includes field case, stand and the photocopy of the photos shown (the originals have been returned to a family member we found online). Condition is showing its age - please buy as ‘well worn but displayable’ condition - however a beautiful and fascinating item. It would also benefit from a careful clean but we have been too cautious to risk it. An item we have cherished, however need to sell due to lack of space. *No ‘click and collect’ addresses please"

The typewriter is in good working condition and is in nice clean condition however i am no expert to the best of my knowledge everything works as it should ."

Seller's notes: "Tested working as intended, this typewriter is in very good condition for age and i show how it types in my photos, as you might expect the carry case does show its age, the typewriter weighs approx 8.5kg in its case. The typewriter is quite rare and has a history of selling for over £300."

Seller's notes: "ANTIQUE UNDERWOOD NO 5 BLACK STANDARD TYPEWRITER 1919 For Parts Very Dirty. Has not been tested could very well work once new ribbon is placed but no guarantee. Been advised not to clean as it’s not in my field best left to somebody that knows what they’re doing otherwise perfect prop for players TV filming et cetera."

Seller's notes: "Nice Condition vintage antique typewriter - Underwood No 5. Was used by my late grandmother and been in the family ever since. Whilst in nice condition it’s not fully working as the carriage does not move along when the keys are pressed but is free to move when using the tab keys, so needs a bit of attention. Seller's notes: "My father was an office equipment engineer, and this is from his personal collection. It's been in our family for 50 years, always stored carefully and used from time to time. It's in an unrestored original condition, but it seems to be fully working. Please view the photos for any details. The serial number dates it as 1934. The 4 bank model was famously used by Virginia Woolf and Stefan Zweig."
